Real Life Experience and the Power of TFT

Warning — there is a picture of a snake in this this post.

Don was kind enough to share this picture of him with a snake.  This is a big deal has he had a lifelong phobia of snakes.

Don tested what he learned at my last Boot Camp workshop.  After being treated for the phobia by another participate in the morning he went to a pet store at lunch to make sure what he was experiencing was more than just his good natured willingness to humor others.

This is the best evidence for the power of TFT- real life experience.

The Differences Between the Basic and Intermediate Levels of TFT Training Treatment

I was recently asked to clarify the differences between the Basic and Intermediate Levels of TFT Training Treatment. I hope this will help.

While both the Basic approach using standard tapping patterns (Algorithms) and Causal Diagnosis (DX) taught in the Intermediate Level workshops heal fast and safely the distinction is like doing the scheduled maintenance on your car or having a complete evaluation including using a computer plugged in to the engine. Another way to think of it is like matching a color to repair your home- you could take a paint chip and eyeball it to one of the hundreds of the printed samples, or using a spectrophotometer analysis create the perfect color formula.

I hope this makes the point – one will usually get the job done but the other will get is done right the first time saving time and effort.

Once you begin to study Callahan Techniques®Thought Field Therapy the answer is easily seen.  A more technical response to the question of the difference between Basic and Intermediate training and treatment is in the following table.

Component Of TFT Basic (Algo) Intermediate (DX)
Subjective Units of Distress (SUD) Use Needed to Direct treatment Protocol Not Required
Subjective Units of Distress (SUD) measured by Felt Sense expressed as numbers, words, or size. Same and/or by kinesiology muscle test
SUD -10 to 0 Negative 10 TO Positive 10
Psychological Reversal (PR) presences & type Types know by occurrence in Alg treatment Protocol Specified by kinesiology  Muscle Test
PR levels Two- PR and PR2 Three- PR, PR2, and Alignment  PR
PR Correction procedure Found by trial in treatment Protocol Found by Kinesiology Muscle Test
Perturbation (the cause of problems) presence: Known by physical/emotional manifestation  with SUD Found by Muscle Test even without SUD
Healing codes- Tapping Patterns 14 Standard patterns currently Unlimited Patterns-Precise to problem in the immediate moment and time with Causal Diagnosis Protocols
9- Gamut Series Built into Alg protocol Need identified  by Kinesiology Muscle Test
Neurological disorganization correction (CB2) need Identified by trial in Alg Protocol Identified  by specific Kinesiology Muscle Test
Floor to ceiling Eye Roll Need known by SUD Need shown by specific Kinesiology Muscle Test
Individual Energy Toxins (IET’s) Identified by trial, heart rate,  change in SUD, or  by return of problem Specific substances found by  precise Kinesiology Muscle Tests
Neutralizing IES Quick Fix in Alg Protocol, Avoiding or eliminating exposer Specific Kinesiology Muscle Test and Seven Second Treatment (7ST) Protocol

I would love to hear what you think about the differences.

The Importance of Connection in Healing Work

Dr. Van Der Kolk and Dr. BrayAt Dr. Van der Kolk’s invitation I demonstrated TFT to the 110 participants in his one day preconference workshop “Trauma Treatment: Principles, Research, and Modalities”. I have followed his research and writings over the years, and to share some meals and discussions with him was exciting. While he does not talk about TFT as an evidenced based approach in his book he did say in his keynote address at the Canadian Association for Integrative and Energy Therapies (CAIET) conference “I could not do my practice without tapping.”

If you ever have the opportunity to see Dr. Van der Kolk present live, give yourself this treat. A good mix of humor, traumatic stress development history as he lives it, and serious challenges to anyone doing work in the world of Post Traumatic Stress Recovery are combined in a powerful learning experience. I also highly recommend his bestselling book The Body Keeps the Score: Brain, Mind, and Body in the Healing Trauma.
The Canadian Association for Integrative and Energy Therapies (CAIET) was wonderful this year. Connecting with old friends and making new connection to share TFT is my idea of a good time. In addition to attending Dr. Van der Kolk’s preconference workshop I presented a breakout session and led the CT-TFT Basis (Algorithm) training as a post-conference one day workshop.

This all reminds me of how important it is to stay connected while doing our healing work. Sharing our ideas and energy is the best part of being in the CT-TFT community.

That’s It.

In my traumatic stress recovery work I often see how hard it is remember to tap when all the nasty symptoms have been triggered. Having words to remind us of what is going on and what to do, can be very helpful. In my training workshops you will hear me say- “What is IT? That’s IT! Now TIT for TAT. Phases like these can become cues for taking action.

When we tune to a thought field we want to know the Subjective Units of Distress (SUD). When looking at the sensation of something is wrong, the question we ask ourselves is “What is IT?”

A good place to begin to answer this question is to recognize that IT often stands for Incident Trigger. Are you tuned to a traumatic stress incident from the past that is being experienced in this moment? Often IT is confusing and difficult to see clearly because of the accompanying reactive state stimulated without conscious awareness when exposed to this reminder of the past.

Once tuned to a thought field we may say “That is it.” In this case ThAT stands for There And Then. So recognize what you are feeling is a traumatic stress response – and you have come across a There And Then Incident Trigger. Tapping will bring you back into the present moment and end the automatic negative responses.

Ever heard the phase “Tit for tat”? This generally means “This for That”. So TIT for TAT reminds us to Tap Into current Time when we are There And Then to get IT gone.

Come to a Basic TFT workshop (Algorithms) or Intermediate TFT workshop (Causal Diagnostic) lead by me and share more mnemonics, prompts, and cues for taking action with TFT to foster positive change in our lives.

One Day Basic Workshop: October 5 at the Canadian Association for Integrative and Energy Therapies in Victoria BC, or October 17 in San Diego CA.

Two Boot Camp (basis and Causal intensive) November 21 and 22 in San Diego CA.

Thought Field Therapy for the Treatment of Post-traumatic Stress Disorder Symptoms Advances in the SAMSHA’S NREPP Review

The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) is the agency within the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services that leads public health efforts to advance the behavioral health of the nation. The National Registry of Evidence-based Programs and Practices (NREPP) is a searchable online database of mental health and substance abuse interventions. All interventions in the registry have met NREPP’s minimum requirements for review and have been independently assessed and rated for Quality of Research and Readiness for Dissemination.

The Thought Field Therapy Foundation’s application for review is moving forward now that NREPP has completed its updated procedures.  And we will be able to submit additional studies for review not available in the original application in Feb. 2014.   For more information or with new studies please click here to contact me.
home-nrepp-logoOnce completed, we will have another means of validating our work and supporting TFT’s value from an independent government reviewer. For more information, please click here to visit the National Registry of Evidence-based Programs and Practices website.
